Clever Ideas For Mother's Day!

Sure, we know Mom's are great and there is nothing like a bouquet of flowers on her special day. This year, why not suggest that your customers spice it up with some clever variations, No doubt Mom’s will love the gifts and more than that, your customers will appreciate your inventiveness!
  • Suggest they invite Mom to brunch or dinner at her favorite restaurant and have a flower arrangement delivered right to her table for all to see.
  • For Moms that like to cook, why not suggest an herb garden design with several small pots of herbs.
  • Make a special tribute to Mom by sending a decorated "Mother's Day Tree." Ask your customer to bring several of their favorite family photos to you and attach them to a plant or miniature tree using colorful ribbons. Prepare the photos ahead of time by pasting them onto pretty colored papers or put them in small frames.
  • If their Mom is planning on attending worship on Mother's Day, have them find out what she plans to wear and design a special corsage to match. They might also consider choosing a new dress or hat for Mom and have it boxed and wrapped with the corsage in place of a bow on the outside.
  • Encourage them to give Mom something to relax with by wrapping a new book or DVD and place it into a fragrant flower bouquet with a note that reads "Today is your day to relax!"
  • Why not help them create a special spa kit. A few days ahead of time, have them bring goodies like nail polish, a loofa sponge, bath crystals, oils and other pampering items to you and design a basket with the spa items on one side and flowers on the other. They could even add a certificate for a manicure, pedicure, massage or spa treatments at a local day spa or salon.
  • Incorporate flowers into a theme gift. If Mom is an avid gardener, create a design that includes gardening goodies such as a trowel, garden gloves, seed packets and tools. If Mom is a bird watcher, how about a design in a bird feeder? An athletic would certainly appreciate a pair of workout shoes - with flowers arranged inside. Tennis balls, golf balls or sport headbands can be a unique addition to any floral arrangement. If Mom loves clothes or jewelry, tie a scarf or drape a necklace around a vase of flowers to make the gift extra special.
We found these cool ideas at aboutflowers.com, you can find more there!  And email Jay for the best and freshest wholesale flowers for your Mother's Day commissions! Here's to a prosperous day for all!

Buying the Freshest Wholesale Flowers!

Sometimes going to the Flower Mart in your area can be overwhelming.so many choices and vendors vying for your business. Here, we offer you some tips on gathering up the freshest, most vibrant picks of the bunch!
Fresh flowers are the key to long lasting arrangements.  If you are shopping in a Flower District in your area, there are certain things you want to do when selecting your blooms.  First, look at the stems of the flowers, the best flowers have bright green, strong stems. The bottom of the stem should snap off when bent.  For the freshest flowers, avoid brown stems or ones that just bend and don’t snap!
Next, be sure to touch the foliage of the blooms you are interested in.  The best will have leaves that are firm and pointing upward.  Stay away from dying leaves or ones that won’t snap off.  Pay attention to new buds, they should be firm to the touch and petals of the open flowers should be fresh and show no sign of browning or withered edges.
Be sure to purchase the most hearty flowers you can, ones with strong stems and thick petals, if you buy fresh, hearty flowers you can be assured a long vase life!
At Milagra Wholesale Flowers, we are proud to ship only the freshest most vibrant product and are able to unconditionally guarantee the freshest blooms around.

The Best Flowers are Fresh Flowers That Stay Fresh Longer!

Fabulous Arrangements using Milagra Flowers
designed by Hidden Gardens LA

The secret to keeping cut flowers looking good as long as possible is to minimize the growth of bacteria in the water and to provide nourishment to replace what the flower would have gotten had it not been cut. When you fill the vase, make sure the cut stems are covered by 3-4 inches of the prepared water. Be sure to change the water (adding more of your chosen method) every few days to enhance your flowers’ longevity. Leave it to Readers Digest to simplify the process for us! Why not give these remedies a try?
Aspirin
It’s a tried-and-true way to keep roses and other cut flowers fresh longer: Put a crushed aspirin in the water before adding your flowers.
Bleach
Freshly cut flowers will stay fresh longer if you add 1/4 teaspoon bleach per quart or liter of vase water. This will also keep the water from getting cloudy.
Coins
Your cut flowers will stay fresh longer if you add a copper penny and a cube of sugar to the vase water.
Hair Spray
Just as it preserves your hairstyle, a spritz of hair spray can preserve your cut flowers. Stand a foot away from the bouquet and give them a quick spray on the undersides of the leaves and petals only.
Soda
Pour about 1/4 cup of clear sugared soda (like Sprite or 7-Up) into the water in a vase full of cut flowers to make the blossoms last longer.
Sugar
Dissolve 3 tablespoons sugar and 2 tablespoons white vinegar per quart (liter) of warm water. You’ll be surprised how long the arrangement stays fresh!
Vinegar
Mix 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar and 2 tablespoons sugar with about a quart of water then add your flowers.
Vodka
Add a few drops of vodka (or any clear spirit) to the vase water for antibacterial action along with 1 teaspoon sugar.

New Trends in Wholesale Flowers for Brides!

June is fast approaching, the favorite month for brides, and there are some creative new additions to the traditional floral choices for brides everywhere!  Light, pastel, muted shades are giving way to bolder, stronger colors these days and many brides are choosing unusual choices for accents to bouquets and centerpieces.  Herbs, fruits, vegetables are showing up at weddings all over the world!  The traditional identical centerpieces are being replaced by varying containers and flowers to fill them, crystal and wicker, clay and glass, are being married as well as the bride and groom.

Brides are moving toward simple, sleek, elegant combinations for their bouquets as well and embellishments of all kinds are popping up to accent the simplicity.  Beads, crystals, jewels and feathers, or pearls are among the favorites of the contemporary bride.  The use of ribbon is in vogue again too, dangling from bouquets and headpieces allowed to fly free rather than tied in bows and wrapped artfully around the stems of flowers for bridesmaids and flower girls.

All that being said, one thing hasn’t changed, today’s bride still demands the freshest flowers around and seeks a designer that can find their favorites in time for that special day.  Milagra Wholesale Flowers is the perfect supplier for both of these needs!  Give John or Jay a call at the shop 213 629 5867 or pop an email to john@milagrafloralimports.com to see how Milagra can work with you to satisfy even the most exacting bride this season!
